What makes a real man?

Interesting isn’t a strong enough word to describe the times we live in. But, it’s safer than others. And I’d rather you keep reading than offend you right off the bat.

For my entire life, men have been portrayed in a certain way by the media. Especially dads. If you’re lucky, you get “Adam” on the CBS show, man with a plan. He’s not a complete moron. But, when there is a situation that is a little more complex, it will be his wife Andy or his mom or sister in law that will be portrayed as one with the answers.

Other portrayals are not quite as nice. They range from dad being a moron who doesn’t know anything about anything except for beer and sports to being an abusive drunk who abandons the family.

Do those men exist? Sure. Are they the norm. By no means.

But, this begs the question. “If these are not real men, then who is? What does a real man look like? What does a real man do?”

That is what I want to share with you.

Am I an expert? No. Do I have it all figured out? Definitely not. But, what I do know is that we can do better. We can be better men. We can be better husbands. We can be better fathers. We can be better examples.
